New version of DownSort has been released. With this new build most of the outstanding bugs have been fixed – possibly new ones created, but time will tell. In any case this should be better than the last build.
Changelog:
– Changed online lookup for movies from vcdq.com to rlslog.net (mainly because vcdq.com was down during build)
– Fixed disappearing downloads issue – in some cases completed downloads would extract, then disappear…
– Changed the way Sample folders are detected – this should prevent files from the Sample folder being copied to the final destination.
Please let me know if anything breaks or does not work with this build. My apologies for the delay in fixing these issues, I can only work on this in my spare time and it has been pretty crazy lately.
I’m getting a the UAC popup in windows 8 professional. I never got this with the old version.
There doesn’t seem to be an easy way to disable this for this program. I’m still digging into it.

That seems a bit odd, I just tested on my Windows 8 pro machine, it did give me a prompt initially that said it might be unsafe to run an unknown application but every time after that it didn’t pop up.
I will keep trying to replicate the issue, do you have a screenshot of the pop window that you get?
It won’t let me take a screenshot of it.. I guess because it’s presented front and center and dims the screen.

Seems weird.. I copied an older version of Downsort.exe that worked perfect and it keeps on giving me this same User Account Control box. Hmmmmm.
On windows 8, on that dialog box there is a “More Info” link. Click on that and this will reveal 2 buttons, one of which will says run always — or always run something similar. That should get rid of the message box.

Ok, I finally figured out what the issue was. I had the Downsort.exe in C:\Scripts folder which I’ve always used with all versions. Recently this is what was giving me the popup UAC windows.
I moved the folder from the C: to my F: drive and now no more UAC windows. I’m happy. Hopefully this may help out someone else if they run into this.

I was hoping to put in a feature request.
I would love to have the option of having the deleted files go to the recycle bin instead of just being deleted. I have lost large downloads a few times because I forgot to add the extension to the keep list. That way I could make sure I’m not losing anything and just empty the bin. I’ve had to re-download about 100 gigs so far.
I will look into this feature, it may be tricky especially if files reside on a network share.
Will look into other ways of preventing accidental deletion

I just upgraded from v1.0.4712.338800
Since the upgrade the extraction process fails. Downsort and the completed torrent are both on G: and I’m extracting to F: using the Alternate Destination feature. With the old version the log file would be written to the folder on F: with the extracted files. With the new version the log file is written to the torrent folder with the .rar files. the log says the extraction is successful, but no files appear in the F: folder.
I reverted back to the old version and everything works ok again.
My apologies for the issue – i will take a look and see what is causing the issue. Will release a test build as soon as I can.
Eddie, I’m experiencing the same problem – log file says all ok, but no extracted files to show for it. Could you possibly point me in the direction of the older version of Downsort in the hope that might work please?

Looks like it might be a bug with the way it creates the log file – for the moment can you try un-checking the Create log option. I will have a look at this when I can and update the dev build
i have tryed remove log file option.. always just unrar, not delete files:/

I’m running build 4957. When running downsort again a torrent that doesn’t have compressed files at all, I get this log line and a new folder is created:

Why is it creating a new folder..?
I suspect that this is also hapenning with my TV shows, but then it is much worse, since the first time it only creates the folder but then if a rared episode is downloaded, it is opened in this folder and then MANY episodes are copied to this folder!
I don’t have a clean log to show about the second scenario. I just deleted all of them and will wait till the next time it happens.

This is just from 2 hours ago. Believe 03 just finished downloading at 11:58 and was just a simple mkv file.
Downsort opened Tv\Believe\Believe and proceeded to open folders for 01 and 02 then copy the old mkv files to these folders.
03 stayed in Tv\Believe.
What is causing this behavior..?
Is there any place to download the older version in the mean time?
